The blog Diversity Cross Check has this cool set-up where people submit profiles of subjects about themselves they feel a writer might want to ask someone about to better portray that subject in their writing. I thought maybe it'd be helpful if we had something like that here. So, here's Ask A Member! Members who are willing to discuss different aspects of their lives that writers might be curious about are welcome to post a profile here so those writers can get ahold of them and discuss these topics. Writers are also welcome to post their questions here directly and see if someone can answer them. The profiles will consist of a name the member is ok with being called by, the topic or topics they are comfortable talking about, and places they are willing to talk to you on/through about these topics.
This first post will be guidelines, while the second post will be a masterlist of summarized profiles.
Topics
Topics can be anything that a writer might struggle with such as different religions, cultures, races, sexualities, genders, illnesses, disabilities, jobs, etc. Topics are not general interests such as favorite TV shows, books, music, etc. unless the interest is out of the ordinary like extreme sports, award-winning dog show person, or something of a similar caliber/rarity. Please make sure before submitting a profile that you're ok with discussing your topics in depth to a potential stranger who, while curious to know more, may start with certain ideas or prejudices about you. If talking to someone like that might upset or anger you, don't include that specific topic in your profile or don't make one at all. This is supposed to help others learn. We don't want anyone getting hurt on either side here.
Profile Form
You don't have to use this form to a T but keep your profile at least similar to make sorting easier. Please don't use difficult to read fonts or post layouts for your profile post. If you feel more comfortable PMing me your profile, you're free to do so but do note that a summarized version of your profile will be posted to the masterlist regardless or the whole deal of you making a profile would be pointless.
